2010/2/2 – Brad Ellsworth Mailing
Mr. Ellsworth puts on a fancy hat, in an effort to save Indiana jobs.
Well, today I received a nice sized multi paged, full color flyer from Brad Ellsworth, telling me how much money he is saving me. I wonder how much this flyer cost? I phoned his office at 10:00 am today, 2/2/2010, and asked them to email a cost summary or a link to where I could search for the expense, as soon as possible. Now, I wonder how many hours or days it will take for me to get a response?
Let’s review the contents of the flyer, just to see if I am getting my money’s worth. First off, his intro says, “Dear Friend”. Brad, I’m not your friend – I’m your Boss. How long is it going to take you and the rest of congress to get that? I’m your Boss, and you just spent 1.3 trillion dollars more than we had in the business account.
I am looking through this pamphlet, and, strangely enough I do not see reference to the Health Care bill that Brad Ellsworth voted for. You know, the one giving $300 million in kickbacks to Louisiana, and attempting to wrest control of 1/6th of the U.S. economy away from fellow citizens. Remember, the health care plan they worked on the entire year while the country sank into a depression. Maybe it’s just me, but if I spent an entire year working on a project, I’d let my boss know about it.
Now, Brad does mention the Stimulus Bill, although he doesn’t actually use that term, since people in general have shown disdain for the manner in which that bill was shoved through congress against our wishes. He claims several successes because of his work with this bill. Yet, I think we need to review a few facts for Brad.
First, neither Brad Ellsworth, nor any other congressman read that bill through before they voted on it. It was being drafted and modified by aides only hours before the vote took place. So, he spent $787 BILLION dollars without knowing precisely what he was voting on. The reason given? Oh, you see, it is urgent, and congress had shovel ready projects to put America to work. Only problem is, many of these urgent shovel ready projects that Brad and the others shoved through congress aren’t actually scheduled to begin until the 2010 elections draw near. Wow, imagine the coincidence that we have hundreds of billions of dollars worth of urgent shovel ready projects that don’t get scheduled to begin for a year or more after the vote. Isn’t that a lucky coincidence for any politician in a tight race.
Back to the full color, multi page flyer describing how he is saving money. Well, there is a perforated edge with a card he wants me to fill out and return. How about that, I have to spring for a stamp. Not surprising, I guess; after all I’m the one, to a small degree, that footed the bill for him to design, print and mail this stupid patting-himself-on-the-back flyer to thousands of people in the first place.
Big freaking surprise.
